​In my third and final year we started with a quick project designing a world for a wind up toy we had been given. This is where the use of the story board has come in. I have since been working alongside a community college in Plymouth where we have been encouraged to design an extension for their school creating an area where they have better facilities to work alongside the community they reside in. The school itself has a series of issues, it is in the city centre for start so room for expansion is tight. This means working with what already exists to make the most of the spaces the school already has.

My second year consisted of studying a [sub]culture which operated in and around the area of our site (which was provided by the university) and then to design something in the space for them to use and interact with. As it was an industrial area I chose to focus on creating links between the university students and the businesses which surrounded the area, working with ideas such apprenticeships and the opportunity to come out of university and walk straight into a job, reducing unemployment in young people in the area. I designed a space for the masters students in mechanical engineering to study, work and interact with the local businesses.

In first year we had a huge variety of different projects, some lasting just a week and others 4 or 5. These projects were to encourage us to use our imagination more and develop skills to produce architecturally creditable work. There is a selection of photographs showing a variety of models and drawings. We were not allowed to use our computers in first year, everything had to be hand drawn.

My own personal brand of carved wooden bracelets which I make and sell. They come in a variety of string colours and each skull is hand carved therefore, is completely individual. Currently retailing at £1.99. If interested in purchasing please don't hesitate to get in touch.
